LA FETICHE proudly celebrates and supports Scottish and French artisanal makers, whose craftsmanship brings timeless and traditional styles to life, joyfully reimagined to cherish forever. Every piece is created with care and respect for the natural materials that make it special.
Wool and cashmere are natural fibres, much like human hair, and they thrive when treated gently. A careful wash can refresh and strengthen them, helping your knit to last beautifully for years. We recommend washing your sweater sparingly, once a year is often enough. In between, simply air it out or spot clean any marks.
When washing, use lukewarm water and a mild non bio detergent. Adding a touch of hair conditioner will help restore softness and sheen. Gently submerge and swirl the knit, then press out the excess water without twisting or spinning, as this can cause felting and shrinkage. Lay the garment flat on a towel or clean surface to dry, reshaping it carefully. Avoid hanging, as the weight of the water can stretch the fibres. If needed, iron on a low setting, placing a thin cloth between the iron and the knit.
Pilling
Some gentle pilling is completely natural with soft and pure fibres. It happens when the fine surface hairs of the yarn rub together through wear. With long staple, high quality fibres, this affects only the outermost layer, and once those first few bobbles are removed, the knit will gradually stabilise and shed less over time.
To keep your sweater looking its best, we recommend using a fabric shaver or a sweater stone. Glide it lightly just above the surface, never pressing down, to remove only the loose fibres without damaging the knit. After one or two gentle treatments, you will find the yarn settles beautifully and pills much less.
